9 Day Mt. Kilimanjaro Trekking – Lemosho route
Day 1: Arrival
After your Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be transferred to Arusha Town by our guide to the hotel of your choice then He will do the trek briefing and equipment check. Dinner and overnight will be at Arusha Town.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast in your hotel, the adventure begins by driving approximately 2 hours through the rural countryside to the Londrossi Gate for park registration. We will drive through varied farmland with open views over the plains to reach the Lemosho road. We start our ascent along the forest trail and then we will camp at Lemosho Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Day 3: Shira camp
We will leave the forest behind, heading to the trail climbs steadily with wide views to reach the rim of the Shira Plateau.
Day 4: Shira Hut
We will follow an easy path to the summit of Shira Cathedral before reaching the next camp at Shira Hut. As this camp is quite exposed, it can be substantially colder than the previous night, with temperatures dropping to well below freezing.
Day 5: Barranco Valley
We start walking on a gentle ascent and panoramic views traversing the southwest side of Kilimanjaro, then passing underneath the Lava Tower and the final section of the Western Breach
Day 6: Karanga Camp
Pass By: Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park 00255 Tanzania
This day will begin with the steep climb up the eastern wall which will lead us just below the Heim Glacier, where we may have some spectacular views of Kilimanjaro. We then take a steep exit up the Great Barranco Wall, which divides us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo. The trail continues down into the alpine desert of the Karanga Valley and finally, we have a steep climb up to Karanga Camp.
Day 7: Barafu Camp
The day will start by the Traverse Route that will take us up to the Barafu Ridge then we will walk up to the final camp before your last ascent day to the summit. This day is better to spend more time relaxing in preparation for the final ascent before a very early night summit walk
Day 8: Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp
We will wake up before midnight and begin a steep climb over loose volcanic scree has some well-graded zigzags and a slow but steady pace will take us to the rim of the main crater, Stella Point. We will rest there for a few minutes to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. Then we can continue slowly for two hours to the main peak (5,895 m), which is the highest point in Africa. After a few minutes of celebrating your milestone, we will descend down to Barafu for some refreshment, and then we will continue to descend to reach Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Mweka Gate to Arusha
A descent on a well-constructed path takes us through a lovely tropical forest alive with birdsong and boasting lush undergrowth with considerable botanical interest. Our route heading down to the Kilimanjaro National Park at Mweka gate through coffee and banana farms to Mweka village, then, you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha. You can spend another day exploring Arusha town or other cultural excursions.
